Away from the busy tourist trail is the rustic and rural Rajasthan. This cycling journey through backroads of Rajasthan explores the small villages nestling happily on the rugged terrains and introduces from close quarters the people who inhabit them. Wrinkled tree thickets, rustic huts with their thatched roofs, drooping camels chewing fodder, women cleaning their courtyards or designing the mud walls with plasters of clay, cow dung and hay and ever-smiling children is what these villages are all about.

This journey is ideal for cyclists looking to explore beyond the iconic monuments, as we uncover the real and un-spoilt Rajasthan.

This morning we will pick you from your hotel in Jaipur following which we will cycle to Sawarda. Fort Sawarda has a proud history and has witnessed some of the important milestones in the history of the region. Next day, Cycle to Sambhar Lake in a loop ride. Enmeshed in history, unique in beauty and rich in salt, Sambhar Lake remains nature’s blessing to arid Rajasthan. At Sambhar, folklore and history coalesce and legends abound around its presence here. A network of narrow gauge trains transports salt from the lake to the processing plant.
Today we cycle to Pushkar, better known for its annual cattle fair in the month of November. However, Pushkar is a very important pilgrimage centre for the Hindus. It is a lake-side town with many temples and bathing ghats and throughout the year the devotees at Pushkar Lake can be seen ritual bathing.
This morning we cycle to Jojawar, a little garrison fort set amidst the Aravalli hills. Jojawar is a perfect place for those looking for the old world charm of the princely fiefdoms of yesteryear. The countryside of Jojawar boasts of very interesting landscapes; the camel herding Rabaris are an ethnic group only to be found here.
Cycle to Chandelao. A stroll round the village will bring you face to face with the sights and sounds of rural India – local craftspeople ply their trade, animals graze, women in colourful dress fetch water from the wells and lakes, children play in the street and everyone welcomes visitors with a friendly greeting.
After breakfast we will part cycle / drive to the historic town of Jodhpur. Founded in 1459, Jodhpur was once the capital of the Marwar State and a major trade centre in the 16th century due to its location on the ancient silk route. Cycling part of the tour ends today. Next morning we will visit the imposing Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest forts in India and unsurpassed in beauty and grandeur. Later in the day our representative will take you to Jodhpur airport / train station for your onward journey.
