BEACH PLEASE! Ganapatipule-Malgund.21-03-201617:02If you are the kind of a person who sits in a rolling chair with a computer in front of you for 5 days a week, typing a piece of code, running the rat race just like every other person beside you is doing and all you think about when you are in this situation is an escape from reality, there it is. Ganapatipule and its sister beaches. For people who are from Mumbai or Pune, this is one of the best weekend escapes! Roughly 350 kms away from Pune, this is your chance to have a good combination of a road trip and your chance to witness one of the most serene beaches in the country.

Trust me on this, I would rate Malgund beach as one of the most underrated beaches I have ever seen. Yes, I have been to Goa, Beaches of Kerala, Marina, kashid, Alibaug, Kihim and other beaches of Maharastra. But Malgund will remain my favourite. If you are someone who feels that nature gives you peace, if you are someone who wants to stay away from crowded places, if you are someone who wants to explore new, less crowded places as a traveller than be amongst the crowd as a tourist, this is your best getaway!

MALGUND

The cleanest beach I have ever seen. More sort of a private beach open to public. What surprises me is that not even one plastic bottle or piece of paper did I come through. No thrash, clean water, clear sky, soothing sun rays. I just did not know that there is a beach like this in the malvan coast. Maximum 20 people did we find in the whole stretch of 3-4 kms. The nature was so good that we got high just by seeing the colour of the water and sun saying a 'hi' from the top! There were more footprints of birds than footprints of human beings, there were more gangs of hermit crabs than gangs of drunk people littering the beach. So, if you really want an escape from the maddening crowd, visit this place! I visited it on a weekend and the *no crowd* characterstic surprised me.

GANAPTIPULE

Ganapatipule was obviously a little crowded than Malgund because of the famous Ganpathi temple present here. Here, it looked like a typical indian beach with shops, coconuts, water rides, camel rides, things to eat and people everywhere. Even Ganaptipule is less crowded when compared to other beaches of India. You find most of the crowd at the beach stretch near the temple. As you go further, even here the crowd is very scarce and the water is very clean. I think the effervescence of cleanliness is due to very little crowd.

How to reach?(From Pune)

Take the Mumbai-Pune expressway, stay on it for almost 150 kms and when you reach Karad, take a Right. From there it is almost a 3 hours ride. The roads are mostly good with some bad patches. Place to stay

We stayed at a place called 'Darya Sarang resort' which was more than comfortable for what he charged us. It was a two minute walk from the malgund beach and the hospitality, facilities and the maintenance was also very good. There are other resorts around Ganaptipule also.

So, if you think Goa is crowded and mainstream,Andaman and Lakshwadeep are too costly, beaches of Kerala are too far to travel from the centre, here are a group of underrated beaches telling all those mainstream beaches a BEACH PLEASE! :)
