Tajpur, one of the hidden beaches in India was very popular among tourists from all over India. The beach is in the district of Purba Medinipur, West Bengal on Kolkata – Digha route.
Dense tamarisk trees by the side of red carpet sea beach stands welcoming you. Our latest trip was in August 2019. Before that I have been there in January and November 2018. Like previous times, this time also we started our trip from Haldia Township (105 km away from Tajpur). Boarded a 26 seater Traveller, hit the ignition and soon we were on the National Highway speeding towards our destination. It took around 3 hours to reach Tajpur from Haldia. After crossing Nandakumar as you enter State Highway there is not much chance of negotiating time. You must decelerate to match the road conditions. Overall the ride was awesome and smooth.
Reaching Tajpur, first thing to do was checking in our resort. August is the month when most travelers visit sea beaches of Bengal, as the water rises and gives a thrilling experience for travelers. So, getting a booking during this month would be challenge or even can hit your pocket hard. After days of exploring, this time we got booking at Sova Hotel and Resort. In January 2019, we got lucky to stay for the night in Tajpur Retreat (http://www.tajpurretreat.com/). It was a lovely experience.
Sine, we had our own transport, so the resort being 1 km from the main beach didn’t stop us from hitting the sea. It was relaxing entering the resort, but our ears were on the faint sound of the waves. After few minutes of rest, we started our trail towards the beach.
On the beach, local people have installed shacks in which you will find all kind of Bengali, Sea food and drinks. Sitting in the shacks beside the roaring waves and having sip over beer with fish fry will make you enthralled.
With the scorching heat in the month of August, the waves are high due to the tidal effect. As the sun sets the temperature around changes with the sky changing its shade to orange and then to black.
On the serious note, Tajpur is deteriorating and the beach is gradually striking out its name from the to travel list of West Bengal. Beaches are getting covered with mud instead of sand. This is a very serious and might be impact of destruction. If this continues, tourist would lose a lovely spot for visit.
Writing this experience, I could feel what Tajpur have done to my heart. Earlier, I was spellbound by its freshness and its vastness. But this time, I was a bit tensed rather than relaxing from my trip.
