The best place for people who love to ride and who love architecture. It is situated in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh approximately 130 km from Bangalore. GUNDAL DAM
Explore the submerged water at Gundal dam.Located about 17kms from Kollegal town, the road to this amazing dam is brilliant easily the biggest dam in the list, one can ride all the way on top of the dam and explore the backwaters.
NANDI HILLS
Tipu Sultan Fort, a summer retreat of the namesake 18th-century ruler, features stone carvings and wall paintings. Prisoners are said to have been thrown to their death from Tipu’s Drop, now known for its panoramic views
SHETTIHALLI CHURCH
To enjoy the surreal beauty of Shettihalli church, one needs to travel to this place twice. Once in the month of July–October when it is partially submerged in water and next in the month of Dec–May when the water level recedes and the church grounds emerge. BHEEMESHWAR
It is a tranquil abode, where the pleasant green mountains meet and greet the lofty clouds. Located in Mandya, Bheemeshwari is an ideal place not only for the nature lovers, but also for people on a holiday spree. Located 4 km away from Mutati forest range and engulfed with mountains, this holiday destination is also perfect for corporate team outings. While trekking on the hillsides and soaking yourself in the river, you will feel the enchanting charm of Bheemeshwari and its surroundings.
SHIVANASAMUDRA
Shivanasamudram on the banks of the Kaveri River is known for its segmented waterfalls. Fed by the Kaveri River, the water gushing down from a magnificent height of nearly 100 meters is split up into multiple streams. The eastern branch is referred to as the Bharachukki Falls, and the western is called Gaganachukki. Have an adventure trek on a rocky terrain, surrounded by greenery.
SAVANDURGA HILL
An hour and a half drive from Bangalore will put you in the lap to find Asia’s largest monolith hill, Savandurga, which rises to an elevation of 1266 meters above sea level. It consists of two hills: a black hill, called Karigudda and the white hill, called Billigudda. Visit the Narasimha Swamy temple and Savandi Veerabhadreshwar temple nestled at the base of the hills.
ANTARAGANGE
Glorious hillocks and caves are just an hour and a half drive away from Bangalore. Literally meaning ‘Ganges from the deep’, Antaragange is surrounded by dense plantations, caves and hills made of boulders and volcanic rock. The temple is dedicated to lord Shiva; this temple is called kasha or Dakshin kasha. The Nandi (vehicle of Shiva) has water flowing from its mouth. The source of the water is still unknown. Thus the name antaragange.
RAMANAGARA
Not far from Bangalore lies Ramanagara, bounded with hills and surreal rock formations – an idyllic spot for rappelling and trekking. This place has a Rama temple on the hill top with history back to Threthayuga. The idol is made of a single stone of lord Rama and lord Sita on his lap and his brother Lakshmana on the right and Lord Hanuman is seated below.
The idol was installed by Sugreeva after the war against Sukasura. Don’t forget to visit the Rama theertha the holy pond.
HOGENAKKAL FALLS
A three hour drive from Bangalore will lead you to the Hogenakkal Falls, also referred as the ‘Niagara Falls of India’. Hogenakkal literally translated to ‘smoking rocks’ and that perfectly describes this falls. Fed by river Kaveri, the water gushing down the rocks is like white smoke – a sight to behold. The best way to soak in the beauty is by taking a coracle ride.
