Bhutan: Tiger Nest

Tripoto

Have you ever came across a picture so beautiful, that the place falls right into your bucket list, that very moment? And no amount of bad pictures after that, changes anything? Well something similar happened to me around an year ago when I first saw a mist clad picture of Tiger nest. And since I work just great with deadlines, I ended up checking it off my list on the last day of the year, i.e. 31 Dec 2016.

This trail all marked with prayer flags everywhere, hosts a considerable number of people everyday of various nationalities. This short trail is mostly ascend, with only last few minute of stairway descend towards the monastery. An average fit person can easily do this in a total of 3-5 hours to and fro.

Should one go? Hell yeah!! if in Bhutan, do plan a day to tiger nest. The view at the top is heavenly.

When to go? Any day works fine, except if its raining.

What to pack? Just a day pack containing a bottle of water, few chocolates and nuts, some cash, and copy of your permit. Take a trek pole with you, else a wooden stick can be purchased at the base. Also decent sports shoes are enough, no need to carry trekking shoes.

And? Start Early, else the trail gets super dusty, due to frequent pony rides. And dress decently enough, as you are visiting a monastery at the end.

There is a small cave just at the back of monastery, which might put few of your phobias to test. One must pay a visit there, just for the experience.

Let's have a visual tour now, starting with my favorite click.
