In Bolpur you can visit sonajuri which is around 5km away from town. It is a small patch of forest in khoai region.The place is named after trees called a sonajuri means "drops of gold" bcoz in winter the tree shades its golden flowers and it seem like raining of gold through out the forest.
Sonajhuri is also famous for its Haat (Weekly Market) known as Khoai Boner Annya Haat or Shanibarer Haat. The Haat is held every Saturday between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Here you can find local artisans product tribal jewelry, ethnic items of home decoration, clothes designed by local weavers, musical instruments and some mouthwatering local Bengalee dishes like Pithey, Puli, Malpoa and much more.
Best part of santineketan is the rustic essences of Rabindranath Tagore which linger all along the town ,soil and breeze.
We visited this place during March the weather is quiet hot & humid. But the best time to visit this place is during winter.
