Australia, known for its alluring landscapes, the Great Barrier Reef, vast interiors of desert called as the Outback and the unique animal spices Kangaroos and duck-billed platypuses. Placed between Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean is a smallest Continent in the World.

Not in my wildest dreams i ever thought i will be in Australia but, i remember in my school days i had seen some pictures of Australia, as we visited one of our family friends and their son's family had settled in here. Not to sure if i was in 7th or 8th grade when i looked at the pictures and just randomly wished to be in "Australia". Don't we say many things randomly ?

For me, Universe started Manifesting my wish and after 14-15 years i got married and moved to this Beautiful Island. The first few spots/places comes to your mind of this country are beaches, Harbour  bridge and Opera House and i was stuck with them too. I soon planned my Sydney tour with my Cousin (more of a friend) from Melbourne (As i was residing in Melbourne then)and soon landed in the Bridge City. After the speedy check-in in the Hotel the first thing we both wanted to do was to see the Giant Structure.

We both were awe-struck looking at the largest arch Bridge in the World. No wonder it has taken the central place in Sydney and become a much-loved symbol of the City. Keeping the thirst to know about the history and unexpected official drama of the bridge opening we were keen to step up to the top.

Getting into the climbers gears we started with the warm up and a quick brief on do's and don'ts; we started the climb. Bridge Climb is run by Bridge Climb Company and you can purchase tickets online or in person (make sure you do advance booking as slots may not be available). Bridge climb is not just the climb but the mix of history, emotions, drama, economy and politics. (Every country has this, silly me :p)

In the year of 1920, Sydney became the first Australian city to boast a population of more than 1 Million. Sydney - a settler society , grown rich on gold, minerals and agriculture exports. Around 1915 Australia began to develop an industrial base that went beyond breweries and bakeries. Nonetheless, almost 80% of the steel for the Sydney Harbour Bridge came from England.

Rapid growth in the city started building pressure on the Government to provide for an Urban Plan. Then stepped the diminutive Dr. John Job Crew Bradfield, with a grand but realistic transport plan. He proposed Bridge Between Dawes Point and Milsons Point its symbolic and technological centrepiece. Into this geographically divided and politically volatile landscape came the largest construction project that Australia had ever seen.

A structure so bold in concept and attractive in design and so pivotal to transport in Sydney that it would capture the public imagination in a way that no other construction ever has.

Learning the history on how it all started we made it to the top. The view from the top are just breathtaking. The sigh you give after seeing the Opera House from the bridge is simply out of the world. The climb as such is not difficult at all but, the history makes it painful to climb, as many of them lost their lives while in the making of this bridge.

Prices

Well The Bridge Climb is expensive and so you should plan and book ahead in time' so that you get good prices. We booked the twilight Climb so that  we could avoid the sun. Be mindful of the wind while climbing though you are harnessed and safety measures are taken.

I had my Bridge moment when is yours ? Write to me or put up in comments on what your thoughts are....happy reading and happy exploring.
