Too broke to be able to afford a zoom car, we ventured on to visit the most awaited Nilakurunji in Munnar in a bus. 12 hours in the bus and we had broken our bums already. It all felt worth it when we began climbing uphill. the cool breeze of the mountains never fail to calm my soul. the agenda was to catch a glimpse of the rare flower that blooms only once every 12 years.

Although in very spare quantity we did get to see the flower. It was misty up there and the trek felt like a cake walk.

Neelakurinji is a shrub that is found in the Western Ghats in South India. Nilgiri Hills, which literally means the blue mountains, got their name from the purplish blue flowers of Neelakurinji that blossoms only once in 12 years.
