I made a five day trip to Bundelkahnd...its almost a treasure island, so much so that one begins to feel like even digging the mud, wondering, what it will fetch from under the ground!! The richness of sculpture and architecture makes one fall all over in love with our country and its heritage. Here are some glimpses of the trip...

Day 1

This is the private property of the Scindias of Gwalior and hosts some of the finest pieces of art and luxury!!

Day 2

The temple, about 25 kms from Gwalior, dates back to the 10th century and is said to have inspired the architechtural style of Indian Parliament!!

The spot hosts numerous life-size idols of Jain Teerthankars...but one has to walk naked-feet atop the hill on rough stones!

Day 3

On the way to the land of the famous Peetambari Peeth Datiya from Gwalior, the hillock Sonagir is a conglomerate of 77 Jain temples and is a pilgrim's delight! The hilltop offers a panaromic view of the landscape.

The trip can be an unforgettable experience for those interested in history and sculpture....However, making advance bookings and doing some homework as regards to the hotel prices and the tourist spots can save money, time as well as not getting into the clutches of unauthorised guides or touts!
