Chitkul is a village in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Chitkul is at a height of 3450 Meter. This is the last village of India to the side of Tibet border.

The valley is extremely beautiful, on the left bank of the Baspa River are snow-clad mountains and on the right bank the whole terrain is full of apple orchards and wooden houses.

Chitkul is around 569 km from the National capital Delhi and 28 km from Sangla. I hope you will enjoy this video.

My Journey

Taking a normal route from Delhi to Narkanda (60.5 kms from shimla), I reached at my first stop, where i stayed with my family in Narkanda, you can find various hotels and tent house over there which will cost you hardly 800 -1200 per person and you can't afford to miss The New Himalaya Dhaba famously known as Negi Dhaba. and the Hatu Peak Trek and its mesmerizing view.

Next day, early morning, i took the local bus to Rampur and from there took another local bus to Karcham Dam.

From Rampur, the last bus to karcham dam leaves at 10:00 am in the morning, so make sure you reach Rampur on time. I reached there by 1:00 pm.

You can find various sharing traveller buses and sharing cabs to chitkul which will hardly cost you.

Karcham dam is 40 kms away from chitkul but it will take around 1hour 30 min. to 2 hours to reach there bcoz of narrow roads but you will find the clearest sky and mesmerizing beauty through your window seats.

Once you reach chitkul, you will find positive and peaceful vibes around you and you can clearly hear the sound of river flowing on the other side of valley.

You can find various tent house over there, that will cost near about 900 to 1500 per person over there (including food) and you can even try Home stay which cost you near about 500 to 700 Rs. per day for a room and they charge 100 to 150 extra for food and three people can easily share a room.

HOW I FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE.

The peaceful vibe of this valley made me fall in love with this place.

I spent my whole evening sitting at the river side and put the bonfire over there and felt the breeze and chilly cold weather and I experienced one of the beautiful sunsets ever.

As the sunsets, you will experience the sky full of stars.

Next morning, i had rajma chawal from the last dhaba of Indian village, which is as tasty as homefood ( maa ke haath ka khana). i took half plate of it which is just Rs 50 but it makes your tummy full.

after this we visited to the temple (Mathi Temple) after that we enjoyed coffee over the river side.

Near about 3:30 to 4:00pm you will find a bus to Chandigarh directly from chitkul and from Chandigarh to Delhi in every 15mins or you can take the flight to your next destination.

At last, i must say this, if you are in himachal, then don't miss to visit Chitkul.
