Start from bandstand nainital towards the kumaon university road (ayarpatta road) and a straight path goes up to this beautiful place known and Tiffin top and cliffs. It's a very short trek. With small stoned paths..and rough patched in-between.. you will get to see a very old British architecture school on the way. Been a long time so have forgotten the name.
Started at banstand nainital at 2pm and kept climbing uphill there comes a point where there are two paths one goes to Tiffin top the other goes to cliffs mostly during this time you will find people around to ask the whereabouts. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks because after you cross the school there won't be any shops. Around 4pm you reach Tiffin topyou can get a good view from there but the sunset is much better from cliffs.
Be sure to be back before it gets dark as there are wild animals found there on top. They say one can camp out at Tiffin top but not very sure about that. It's a sweet and small trek to get a view of nainital and the mountains and get closer to the wild life of pine trees all around
