Day 8

We had a really bad wifi connection yesterday, so I'm combining days 7 and 8 here. On Sunday we checked out of our B&B in Cong and drove to Galway for a full day in the city. We did a ton of shopping on Quay Street and I found a gorgeous ring to replace my too-big wedding band. Had to order it in a different size/color but I love it! We saw the old Spanish Arch and chatted with a really cool British lady at Taffes pub, then ended the night ironically listening to American Folk music in our hotel bar before bed. Consider this whole block "Day 7" because it was all done within Galway City.

Day 8

8:30 AM - We left Galway and stopped at Dunguaire Castle for a quick photo opp on our way to Cliffs of Moher.

11:00 AM - We parked at a local park and ride and took a shuttle to the coastal walk trail head for the Cliffs of Moher. We started at Hags Head and walked a bit over 5K to the Visitor Center. You don't need me to describe the views - the pics will speak for themselves. I can, however, testify to the fact that the cow fence along the trail is electric. Owwwww. :(

6:00 PM - After the cliff hike we had a long drive (and surprise ferry ride - thanks GPS!) to reach Ballyseede Castle hotel in Tralee. We checked in and toured the grounds then I hung out in the drawing room downstairs while Tom got ready for dinner. Ashford was huge and super ritzy but this place is so much nicer because it is homey and feels like a place you can actually live in. My favorite spot yet! Oh, and then we found a dinosaur of a dog - an Irish Wolf Hound - and made best friends with him, so that's always a win. His name is Higgins and he had an itchy belly. :)
