Preamble : Trip to Triveni sangam, Allahabad.
Triveni - Ganga, Yamuna and Invisible Saraswati. (Saraswati remains concealed with a belief that she marks her presence felt underwater). Sangam - Confluence of rivers.
Facts that aspired my visit :
Over the history it has been the site of immersion of ashes of several national leaders, including Mahatma Gandhi in 1948.
A place much visited with deep respect or admiration to a place where Kumbh mela is held every 12 years.
Bath in this confluence is said to be so sacred which would cleanse people off all their sins and free one from the cycle of rebirth. It is even believed that all the gods come in human form to take a dip in the Sangam to expiate their sins.
There are stories that even Lord Rama visited this place during his period of exile.
It is believed that some drops of nectar fell from a pitcher from the hands of Gods, which makes up Triveni Sangam such a holy place for Hindu’s.
Delhi to Allahabad: We took a train journey to reach Allahabad Chheoki, as it was off season trains were empty and came lucky for booking tickets. Even flights are available from Delhi. We reached in the evening with a welcome drizzle of rain at around 17:00hrs. Then we headed towards Allahabad city through local share auto rickshaw which charged 20rs/Individual.
