Since the time Adlabs opened Imagica in the outskirts of Mumbai, I had been meaning to go there. But, the very thought of going so far (2.5 hours) for a day trip used to be daunting for us. Now, I have a son who is 4.5 year old. In January this year, we decided to head to Imagica and do a night stay at Novotel Imagica, which is right next door!
I was the most excited amongst the 3 of us. I had heard a lot of good reviews about this place. We have been to many amusement parks like Disneyland, Oceanworld, Universal Studios, Movie World, etc. And, I had heard Imagica is at par with these! I could not wait to go there! And let me tell you, I am just not a rides-person. In fact, of late, I have started to dislike the simplest of rides. It doesn’t fascinate me at all. But, I love to “watch” ;). And luckily, my little one is pretty brave, unlike me. So, I knew he too would have a good time.
Our itinerary was just perfect. We went to Imagica the first day, stayed back at the hotel that night and next day was spent at Aquamagica.
Day1: Imagica: To start with, I had extremely high expectations from this theme park because of whatever I had heard from everybody. The fact is that it has 25 rides in different categories including for kids, families, roller coasters, shows, etc. It does have something for everybody. The major issue was the maps! Having been to many other amusement parks, we are used to pre planning and knowing things in advance. Here, the map didn’t give out any information regarding the rides – which category does it fall under, age group, etc. This was a big drawback. So, to figure this out, we had to literally go to each one and see for ourselves and then decide! Also, the show timings were not accurately and conveniently mentioned. Other than that, it was great! Some rides & shows were different from what we have seen. The best was “Tubby’s Secret Party”. It is for 4 years+. So, Tubby is an elephant, the mascot for Imagica. The kids can be enrolled for this secret party where they would dance with the characters of the park! We booked it for our little one and he had a great time. They were served some yummy goodies like cupcakes, juice, and he loved it. In fact, we were told later he is a super naughty and active kid :) So, Tubby’s party was at an additional cost of 450 bucks per kid for an hour! It was good for us as well as we got some time off without the kid to enjoy rides separately. The rides and shows that we thought were different and nice were “Mr India”, Pow Wow Show (It was silly but hilarious), Happy Wheels, I for India, Lochness Explorers (water splash for kids) and Splash Ahoy. We couldn’t sit on a few so we don’t know about them.
There is also a snow park inside Imagica. But, we didn’t go in there. Again, we have to book it separately. We didn’t because of lack of time. Apparently, that too is amazing with some thrilling rides and also edible snow! We will definitely go there in our next visit!
Day2: Aquamagica: Honestly, I was not too keen on visiting this place as I was done with one. But, since we had the passes already, I thought I can give it a try! And I was glad I did! It was so much fun. It has some really amazing rides for both adults & kids. We have been to Wet & Wild World in Gold Coast. And Aquamagica has rides similar to it – simply awesome! But, the issue was our kid didn’t quite like it. He hated being wet and being cold. So, if you are travelling with kids, you may like to consider this point.
Their website mentions the required outfits for the water rides. But, we saw people were wearing just about anything. So, don’t be much bothered about what can be worn and what not and overload your bags. Their store has superb swimming gear if you want to buy from there itself, and at great prices! You may like to carry a waterproof mobile pouch so that taking pics become easier. We didn’t carry and we have hardly any pictures from here L but, it can also be bought from their store!
Novotel is right next door so, it was extremely convenient to stay there. It has a shuttle service to and from the theme park. We got a combined package for stay, breakfast and passes for both the parks. So, it worked well for us.
Excellent breakfast, too many activities for kids & adults, swimming pool, spa, kids play area, gym.
The best was the pyjama party for kids! It was at an additional cost of 450 per kid. One of the characters from Imagica came to our room to wake up our little one at 7 30 in the morning. He loved it so much. Till date, he asks us who would come & wake him now J After which, they go to kids play area for activities – magic show, towel art, dance with favorite characters, practice for hotel parade. The party ended with kid participating in their grand parade which was a brilliant experience! This one is a must do for kids!

Average room, average dinner, average service, the staff didn’t have a clue about the activities listed and the spa too!
Overall, it was not bad!
Hope this detailed review helps you in planning your trip to Imagica. Do share your feedback as well. I am surely visiting Aqua once again very soon, and this time with my girl gang
I will end it with my most favorite jingle (and my kiddy loves it too):
“kholo ye apna imagination,
yaha pe crazy ho jayega,
Family fun ka naya destination,
masti mein time yaha udd jayega..
imagicaaaa… come to imagica :)”
