In Maharashtra, Krishna Janmashtami is synonymous with Dahi Handi festivities. Where chants of 'Govinda aala re aala!' soar in every corner of Maharashtra with the rise and occasional fall of human pyramids of 'Govindas' to reach Dahi handi, tied up in the air.
This reenactment of Lord Krishna's favourite pastimes and his love for milk and butter creates a super exciting atmosphere amongst devotees and makes the festival something to look forward to each year.
