This trip was well planned in advance and not a very backpacking kind. I along with a friend went onto traveling together. The reason why we chose two totally distant destinations is cause she wanted to see Taj Mahal as it was her first time in India and I was dying to go to Darjeeling..I wanted to see mountains, greenery, and as we traveled in July, it was pretty hot in the northern India and raining in the north east, so I wouldn't really recommend anyone traveling at that time of the year. We started from Delhi, going to Agra, seeing Taj Mahal, Agra fort and Fatehpur Sikri, we took a train to Jaisalmer. It was way too hot there in the desert land but we did enjoy our camel ride and was informed by our escort that most of the bollywood movie desert scenes are shot there only. Impressive! After Jaisalmer we came back to Delhi staying overnight in a hotel in Karol bagh, we took an early morning flight to Bagdogra (Nearest airport) and then a drive to Darjeeling which took us like 5 hours. I fell in love with the place at first sight! The tea plantation and the disconnecting from the city chaos was something beyond amazing. Darjeeling is not only famous for Tea but also for the scenic beauty and they are crazy for football over there! Every house and shop has the flags of their favorite team showcasing right outside their establishment! Moving further we went to Kalimpong, Pelling & Gangtok. All I wanna say here is, you gotta go there if you wish to realize how being in nature's lap feels like.
