Well, this was a last minute plan . If you are around the Midwest area, Chicago is not too far. I was 4 hours away and got driven Chitown .

Well if you are architecture buff - this is city that has fascinating buildings - of the post modernism era. I am not an arty person, but I a photo lover and enjoyed taking pictures of the structures around downtown.

It is too big a downtown area to walk around and too expensive to park.

The best way to get around would be bicycle from the bike station - costs about 10 bucks per hour .

The other way to get a quick overview and an architectural history of the town is the boat tour which is supposedly nice.

I opted for the hop on hop off - Chicago bus trolley - not my style -  but I think it was very convenient for a day trip .Please please please carry a sunscreen along. Besides you had entertaining guides. The tours are on from 9 to 9pm and have various options of passes a day pass/ 48 hours/ 72 hours. The tour has 13 stops - you my want to hop off at any stop on the route. You just need to retain your ticket the entire time - so you don't have to lose.

Choosing between the boat and bus - the bus is bound to get stuck in traffic - but will give you time to see a place that would interest you.

Chicago is well connected by trains and the metro and that is something you may want to try out too.

This beautiful city has a lot to offer - Museums, Art, Culture, Parks, Bars and all in all a very nice place to visit .

A peaceful walk around the shore line or a boat cruise is also something very nice to do.
