Growing up in North India which is known for its plains and hills, I have always been intrigued by the beauty of South India.

And I witnessed it after moving to Manipal for my post -graduation. I felt compelled to experience waters of South.

One fine day a senior suggested a place called KodiBengre/ Delta to me and my friends. On inquiring he refused to divulge any details regarding the place and asked us to just go there and experience it ourselves. Never before I had felt a spark to just get up and head to a place devoid of any crucial information.

Not delaying any further, we set out to explore this part of Manipal. As we drove closer I could feel the wet odour of the Sea. The mere sight of acres of coconut trees lining the beach , cotton white clouds dotting the sky , the setting sun peeking through the trees was awe inspiring.

Soon after this spectacular sight we noticed the Suvarna river was flowing on one side while the Arabian Sea was raging on the other. I realised that we were traveling on a tiny peninsula like stretch of land and this was breathtaking, the Sea was calling out to us. It was amazing to see how the river water was finding solace in the huge heart of the Sea, our senior was right . I strongly recommend every visitor of Manipal to go and experience this convergence. No one can really attach one specific definition to this place.

It is pristine and travellers would love this place because it's isolated and inhabited by only a few locals. One can see white bellied eagles hovering over the Sea. The South side of the beach extends up to Malpe beach and St. Mary's island. En route we found a few shacks where we decided to dine and grab a bite of ghee roast chicken and we accompanied it by downing the local drink ' Todi '.
