At-least once in a lifetime, Do the Diu :)

Continuing my last trip i.e. from Delhi to Ahemdabad -> Ahemdabad to Diu

How to reach Diu by Air: Diu has an airport located in Nagoa. From here, Jet airways offer daily flights to and from Mumbai.

How to reach Diu by Rail: The nearest railway station is located at Veraval. One can access Diu by reaching Veraval which in turn connected to Rajkot, Ahmedabad and the other important cities of western India. Tour to Diu by rail would be fun since the tourist will come across the rural parts of India and will have a good opportunity to witness the beauty of these regions. It is advisable for the tourists to travel to Diu from October to March since the weather is the most pleasant one during this period.

How to reach Diu by Road: Diu is well linked via roads that connect the National Highways of the country. These well maintained roads link Diu to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Vadodara, Daman, Palitana and other major places of the western part of India.

Climate in Diu:

The Diu islet enjoys a maritime climate which is constantly affected by the sea breezes. The weather remains dry but pleasant throughout the year. In the winters Diu temperature reaches a maximum of 26 ° C while minimum being 20 ° C. During summers the maximum temperatures do not rise above 36 degrees and the minimum does not fall below 20° C.

Here, I am not going to tell you the history of Diu, you can google it :D

After exploring some place of Ahemdabad, our next destination is "Diu". From Ahemdabad, one can easily get AC and Non AC buses from Ahemdabad city to Diu with a fair of around 400 INR for Non AC and around 500 INR for AC bus. The traveling time is around 10 hours (including the stops for food and snacks) and the distance is around 365 km.

Place of Interest in Diu:

Naida Caves

Zampa Gateway

Portuguese Fort

St. Pauls Church

Nagoa Beach

Gangeshwar Temple

I.N.S.Khukery Memorial

Ghogla Beach

Shell Museum

Jallandhar Beach

Chakratirth Beach

St Thomas Church

Gomatimata Beach

Diu Museum

Dinosaur Park

Our bus timing was 23:00, and we were already tired from the previous journey, we just took our sleepers and went to sleep after adjusting the AC vents on the above of our sleepers. Around 7:00 in the morning I wake up and the surroundings were totally changed. We were able to see the no-ended water from our window and it make me a super exited as this is my first affair with the sea. And I am just waiting to reach the Diu bus stand as early as possible :)

Around 9:00 AM in morning we were standing on "Jetha Bai Bus Stand", the bus stand of Diu. You can see the sea from 3 sides of the bus stand. I think this is the only bus stand which is so near to a sea. I can't explain excitement of what I was feeling at that time :P

Our hotel is just half kilometer away from bus stand, and the place is known as "Bunder Chowk", near govt car parking. There are a lot of hotels and beach resorts in Diu, you can choose as per your budget. The top hotels among them are Hotel Apar, Hotel Apana and Radhika Beach resorts etc. We had book hotel Apar from a hotel booking website and got a very good discount :)

One can easily get Activa and Bikes on rent to explore the Diu with a very normal rates. For getting these rented vehicles you must have a valid Driving Licence. Just complete the formality by filling the basic details related to you and deposit an amount of 1500 INR as security you can get Activa or Bike for 8 hours on a rate of 350 INR for Active. You have to return it back at 20:00 PM, if you are renting it for 1 day only. We had stay of 2 days, so we rented it for 2 days. The best thing is, when you rented it for more than 1 day, then you don't have to return it on the night. You can keep it inside your hotel parking after exploring the night life of Diu.

After having some rest and b'fast we were ready with our machines to explore the Diu, and for information were having a map that show the famous point and their route. All the tourist places are with in 2 KM range from Diu Bus Stand. Only Nagoa beach is 8 KM. So one can easily cover all the points in a single day by a rented Activa, as we did.

There were no crowd, not even a single person on that beach, it seems like it is our private beach and we enjoyed our own company.

On day 2, we had no plan other than going to Nagoa Beach. After having b'fast and check out from the hotel and kept the luggage in their locker room we were moving towards the Nagoa Beach, the only beach having some good crowd and offering water sports activity like Jet Skee, Water Skee, Para Sailing, Banana Ride etc. Liquor is also available on Nagoa Beach, and one can enjoy the sip by maintaining the surrounding environment.

We spend the entire day at Nagoa Beach by enjoying the sea waves that throws us from the deep of sea to the coast. We also tried some of the water sports activity like Banana Ride, Water Skee etc. The most adventurous among the all is Water Skee, I fell in the deep-sea while doing water skee, thanks to my life jacket, because of that I am alive and writing a blog here :D

Around 5:00 PM we come outside from the sea and taking the bath to remove the sand from our entire body and having a tea break we were again back in the city to have some food and to collect our luggage from hotel and catch the bus from the same Jetha Bai bus stand towards Ahemdabad...

Points to be noted:

- Para Sailing is available between 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM only, so plan your water rides accordingly. Otherwise you will miss it like we did :(

- Do not fill the rented vehicle tanks full, as the total area of Diu is around 40 KM and there are petrol pumps available, one at Bunder Chowk and another one on the way of Nagoa Beach. Otherwise you have to return the vehicles with half tank full as we did :P

- 2 dyas are enough to explore diu totally, one full day for Nagoa Beach, Dinosaur Park and another one for others points.

- All the tourist points are with in 2 km radius, except Nagoa Beach.

- To enjoy the beach during night, go at Dinosaur Park, you can find a small gathering their till mid night as it is a children's park, some family are there with there childs to enjoy the waves by sitting besides the coast.

- Apart from Sea Food and Non Veg, you can get proper Punjabi, South India, North Indian food etc. So there is no issue of food for Non vegetarians.

- Every year between December February mid, Diu Fest organized named as Fiesta De Diu. It's Asia's longest beach festival.

Happy traveling

Fir milege kahi kisi roj ghumte firte :)
