I am writting about the drive from Deoghar, Jharkhand to Kochi,Kerala on my HyundaiVerna. The journey covered a total distance of 2800 km in 50 hours. I had time constraints so i had to drive during both day and night. The route followed was Deoghar-Asansol-kharaghpur-Brahmpur-Vizag-Nellore-Tirupati-Salem-Kochi. The road till Kharaghpur, WB was not good and thereafter the Asian Highway roads were very good. My first halt was at Berhampur, Orissa where i stayed in a lodge for a few hours which had an average room but nice food! I also had lunch enroute and tried the famous thali of orissa which was delicious. There are various food joints across the route at very affordable prices. My fellow mates are advised to cross vizag before morning traffic of the city starts. It took me more than 3 hours to pass through the city traffic. My second halt was at Tirupati and I started my journey early morning for kochi. I would advise people to be aware of Trucks as their driving is very rash. I encountered a small accident off Tirupati toll naka at 0400hrs and when i tried to stop the truck driver, few localities gathered at the spot, so there was no outcome and finally the truck driver left without any penalty. While passing through Tamilnadu there are several flyovers and sharp turns. It is advised to act accordingly keeping safety as the paramount factor. Regular checkup of air pressure in tyres and vehicle checkup prior commencement of trip is mandatory. My suggestion would be, rather than going solo, you should have a partner during the trip. The weather throughout was pleasant and it gave me so many memories to cherish and so much to learn! Also the Verna gives an amazing feel of the drive and the throttle behaved exactly where i wanted it to be with stability. The average fuel consumption was 15kmph on highway.
