Yuksom-Dzongri Trek is a short, high altitude (13,123 feet) and one of the most interesting trekking routes in West Sikkim. Nestled in the fabulous Himalayas, this destination offers many spectacular and charming views of the nature's exquisiteness. Trekkers can explore the virgin peaks, the pictorial landscapes and towering mountains. The major attraction is the majestic sight of the Kanchenjunga peak and further the sunrise from behind the snow-clad range that turns the horizon opulent in gold enriches the journey.
The journey divulges the entire stretch of the Sikkim Himalayan region and one can spot the peaks like Mt Pandim, Mt Thenchinkhang and Mt Jhopuno at a binocular distant. From Dzongri one can even capture the majestic Himalayan range views of Mt Khanchendzonga, Mt Kabru, Mt Koktan, Mt Jhoponu, Mt Thenchinkhang and Mt Narsing peaks.
The trek to Dzongri is ideally of five days, with one day of acclimatization at Tshoka village.

Dzongri Trekking Tour Highlights

Yuksom: It is the base camp for a trekking to Kanchenjunga Goechala, and many other Mountain Expedition. Dubdi monastery the oldest monastery in Sikkim is situated in Yuksam. The Coronation Throne, where the first king of Sikkim was crowned is still intact and conserved in Yuksam

Tshoka: Tshoka is a little Refuge settlement that is located at the high altitude of about (3000 meters). From Tshoka you can see a sight soaring snow covered peaks Mt. Pandim and a few others

Dzongri Viewpoint: Dzongri View point is located at the altitude of 4250 meters. You can witness stunning 360-degree spectacular panoramic views of the snow-capped towering mountain peaks and hills

How to Reach:

By Air: Bagdogra is the nearest airport which is about 135 kms from Yuksom
By Rail: The nearest rail head is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) which is about 150 kilometers away from Yuksom. The drive is approx. 6 to 7 long hours via Jorethang
By Road: Bus services aren’t available to Yuksom. One need to hire taxis to reach Yuksom from Gangtok, Tashiding, Pelling and Gyalshing. Shared Jeeps are usually not available after 1 PM

When to visit?
The ideal time for trekking in this region is the summer between mid of March till June mid. After that, another right time is in the autumn during mid-September till November.

Trekkers get to explore and see the mesmerizing exquisiteness of scenic landscapes during trekking. In fact, Dzongri and Dzongri La (view point) is the paramount spot to get a view of the spectacular mountains and its towering peaks in the Sikkim Himalayas.
