At a distance of just 120 km from Bangalore, lies Chennarayana Durga (1200 mt) which shuttled multiple times between the Marathas and the Mysore Wodeyars until the pinnacle of the Third Mysore War.

It now offers a good option for a short and an easy one day trek. The total trek length is 7-8 km (i.e 4 km each side) and it's a moderate trek. We left early morning on bike to reach the trek starting point. Going by bus is a bit tricky as there are no direct buses. One can go till Tumkur by bus and then take tempos/local buses but the timings are not fixed and hence inconvenient.

The starting point of this trail begins from the quaint village that rolls right up to the foot of the hill. This can be easily found on Google maps and there is no need for any guide as the path is pretty much straightforward. With absolutely no tree cover to offer any shade, this trek can be a bit tiring during summers. The most beautiful part of the trek is a small pond en route which is cleverly shielded from all sides such that it comes as a pleasant surprise when discovered.
