Mysore - What's big deal?
Mysore is an astonishing town rich in culture and heritage, art and architecture, picturesque palaces and churches, historic temples and beautiful landscapes, renowned animal zoo and art gallery and what not - the famous colourful illuminating gardens and the gigantic dam.
Located around 150 kms from the IT hub, one can reach in 3 hours by road and train.
Srirangapatna - a rocky island by River Kaveri
Srirangapatna has a vast history of its own dating back to 9th century, ruled by Ganga dynasty, Vijaynagar empire, Wodaya King followed by Tipu Sultan and finally the Britishers.
Srirangapatna was made a fortified city by Tipu Sultan and continued to be the power centre until Tipu Sultan fell in powers to the Britishers. The place where Tipu Sultan's dead body was found is present even now. Near to this is the "Water Gate" built by Tipu which is a gateway that opens to the shallow portion of the river.
The Ranganathaswamy Temple
The Ranganathaswamy Temple built by the Ganga dynasty - the tower stands high and spectacular leaving us into puzzle about the amazing architectural talents in India hundreds of decades back. It's a master piece of mankind.
St.Philomena's Church
St Philomena's church stands one of the highest unique church in south Asia. Built in Gothic style, it has a beautiful catacomb below the main attar.The church foundation being laid by Hindu King for the Britishers whose architecture is French and design is German, is truly a world master piece. The church's architectural look and design is so tempting that one cannot resist clicking a picture with the beautiful lady. Here's one of mine. 
The Mysore Maharaja Palace
This majestic architectural wonder steals the show of your entire day.
The Mysore palace also termed as the Amba Vilas is the largest and the most opulent of all the palaces in the town of Mysore. The beautiful awe-inspiring interiors, royally themed oil paintings, 900 years old antiques made of Gold, Silver and ivory are gonna leave you speechless end of the day.
The magnificent temples at both the sides of the palace were so heart warming and welcoming.
One will make himself lucky to see the fully illuminated Mysore Palace during the times of Dussera - really a WOW speechless scene of the town!
The Chamundi Hills
The Chamundi Hills, one of the sacred hills, is about 3489ft above sea level. Travel to this hill is so amazing that one can quickly take a glance of the entire beautiful city of Mysore and the city's landmarks. The hilltop has the shrine of the Goddess Chamundishwari, who is believed to have killed the demon Mahisasura. The entire hill is believed to be in the shape of the fallen demon. One cannot also miss the colossal Nandi (Bull) statue on this scenic chamundi hills.
Krishnaraja Sagar dam & The Brindhavan Gardens
The KRS dam built by one of the wodyar King proudly stands as majestic and as gigantic across the life giving river of Karnataka, river Kaveri. This dam represents the marvellous architectural skills of India and has the world's first automatic sleuce gates. The meticulously planned Brindhavan Gardens with cheerful musical fountains and dazzling lights on the dam site make us experience the enthralling fairyland ambience. The ornamental garden is rejuvenating experience to all to see the sights of the aesthetically illuminated fountains amidst the beauty of the gigantic dam.
Sandalwood and Mysore
Go for a shopping in Mysore! You will end up buying everything in Sandalwood - be it In soaps, creams, incent sticks, arts to Sandalwood statues. Yes, the aroma is so mesmerising! One is also delighted by the silk sarees of Mysore for its alluring and attractive looks.
Well,here now I get why the picturesque Mysore city got the tourists flocking all round the year! This fantabulous one day trip to Mysore defenetly escapes a day out of your routine monotonous coding life to the plethora of amazing and extraordinary heritage rich city..!
