Friday - The golden child of the weekdays. The Superhero of the workweek. The welcome wagon to the weekend. The famous F word we thank God for, every week.

So today is another exciting Friday, not just like any other Friday where I'm always geared up and excited about the weekend. But this time, the excitement pierces the adrenaline rush in me as I am about to commence my dream Euro-trip today.

I have backpacked extensively in India and countries around it. However, in the year 2015, I specked up a draft itinerary of my biggest solo-trip to western Europe. I had planned to undertake this journey only after I quit my job (Because no Indian employer would permit me for a month long travel leave :-P). Unfortunately, it took me many years to make that decision. Meanwhile, the savings I could manage to collect were peanuts to sustain that dream trip (Thanks to my employer for the continuous drought period of no-hikes). And the aspiration was passed on as a dream until 2018. However, due to the cheapest tickets & Visa on arrival, my dynamic plans led me to Ravana's (Hindu Mythological Character in Ramayana) abode - Sri Lanka in 2015, instead of Europe.

Today, in the year 2018, after endless discussions, interminable google searches, never ending skyscanner alerts, eternal changes to my travel sheets, hours & days of scanning the maps and reading the travel blogs, finally I'm leaving for a Euro-cation with my partner ????

Our luggage consists of 50% food, 20% clothes, 20% electronics and the remaining 10% country specific travel books. (You will see why food is important to us, especially because we are vegetarians).

Since, it is European summer and winter wear is not a travel essential to be packed, however don't forget a rain & windproof jacket (thanks to European weather, rain is perennial). However, if you are a super hot blooded species like me, always carry a warm jacket to protect you from cold.

After a fully occupied day, (this Friday feels heaven) I am about to leave early than my routine hours to avoid the traffic. My last few hours of the Friday noon at work was spent in intermittent eye contact with the phone and fingers banging the keys of the keyboard. I incessantly wait for my partner to pick me up from work, as I'm injected with the elation to spend the next few days in alien destinations to me and pre-visited cities to him.

Travel jitters, do you feel the same?
