I have always wanted to go on a solo trek, and this was my first solo where I didn’t know anything about the Kalsubai. I just booked the trek and then found out that it’s gonna be tough. I am not a fitness freak but I am trying to get fit just to go on treks.
So I started my trek from Ghatkopar, Mumbai, I boarded the train for Kasara. I have heard of Kasara but never knew it was so far. It felt like forever to reach there. The moment I reached the station I met my guide. We were 38people including me and around 8 girls and I was the only one on a solo trek. I am an ambivert but the group was so supportive and amazing that we gelled up so quickly and it was easy to climb up the mountain.
We had lunch at around 2.30 pm then after that we headed to the base village bari, got freshened up because nobody would get the washroom at the top especially for girls.
We started our trek at 5.30 pm, initially, it looked easy but getting there was a tough job. I remember I was so tired but the guide and people encouraged me to move at the top. While trekking we laughed, we sang, we danced, we cracked jokes and what else you need while climbing. You just need a few people and motivation, there you go. The trek was 5.5km and it turned into night trek in few hours because most of us were doing for the first time. So, it was hard to climb. We reached the top at 9.30 pm, there we had dinner at base camp then after that bonfire, it was hilarious because we were playing antakshari and while singing people were forgetting the lyrics.
The temperature at the top was 12°C, and being as a Mumbaikar we don’t have the capacity to tolerate this much temperature, everybody was shivering. But the view from the top was mesmerising, you could see the stars, moon and most important the twinkling city light. It was so beautiful after the bonfire, everyone went to there own space and plugged there earphones, listening to their songs. We lost ourselves in that beautiful view & music .
Next morning, each and everyone woke up at 4.30 am because for nature’s call. The last time we went to the washroom was around 5.00 pm and now nobody could control it. It was easy for boys to pee anywhere but being a girl, we didn’t have an option so we all ganged up and went behind the trees. To be honest, all I was saying “Jhadiyon ke piche se agar awaz aye to piche nahi dekha karte” Anyway then at 6 am we headed up to the top to see the sunrise and it was not that far because obviously after climbing so much we found that distance quite a little.
After seeing the beauty I didn’t want to come back. It was mesmerising when you see such beauty of nature, you forget your problems and can’t think of anything else but starts to love nature more and more. Sun was hidden behind the clouds and the rays of hope falls on you and makes you feel inspired.
After the sunrise, we head back to Mumbai. And the during the journey from Kalsubai to Mumbai, all I could think was about the memories I collected i.e the nature, the people, the inspiration and the motivation to go for more solo treks. The entire trip was reverberating in my mind. It is surely one of my favourite trip and a journey I’ll always cherish.
