Those looking to get an idea of the city’s rich heritage can visit key historical attractions such as Newstead House, the Old Windmill, the Old Government House and Parliament House. Also of note are age-old places of worship including St. John’s Anglican Cathedral and Old St. Stephen’s Church.

South Bank

This picturesque precinct on the Brisbane River’s southern banks features some idyllic parklands to explore. Those planning a visit here from city hotels or holiday apartments in Brisbane have much more to do as well; spend time at Streets Beach which is an artificial beach area, head to the iconic Wheel of Brisbane or have a romantic meal at the River Quay area.

Retail Therapy

One of the key highlights for shopaholics is the Queen Street Mall; located close to Oaks Aurora Tower, this pedestrian mall is home to over 700 stores and features modern shopping centres, small boutiques and heritage-listed arcades. Fortitude Valley’s James Street is another great place to shop as is the Collective Markets at South Bank.

There are plenty of culinary discoveries that await in Brisbane which has an eclectic foodie scene. One of the best spots to visit in this regard is Eagle Street Pier; here you will find a range of restaurants, eateries and bars set against views of the Story Bridge and the Brisbane River.
