Exploring Coimbatore

Tripoto

A beautiful and peaceful city, which treats every other tourist as its own people. This place was never in my bucket list to visit. But end of loving this place after visiting.

I am going to share best places to visit and best things to do in Coimbatore.

1. Amaravathi Dam:

This dam is situated at a distance of 90 Kilometres from Coimbatore. The dam is encircled by Annamalai Hills & Palani Hills and offers breath-taking view of the valleys.

The dam is across the Amaravathi River. This place is known for South India's largest breeding population of wild Mugger Crocodiles. This is the largest Crocodile nursery farm in India with about 100 crocodiles. Crocodile Farm is just 1 km before the Amaravathy Dam.

There is also a well laid-out park near the dam with surreal surroundings. The cold breeze with the breath-taking view makes this place in top my list.

2. Monkey Falls:

Best time to visit Monkey fall is between June to January. This is a roadside stop situated almost 65 kilometres from Coimbatore. This place is ideal to take bath and for picnics. After February the water flow is very less. This road stop comes on the way to Amaravathi Dam. You can cover both these places on the same route.

3. Isha yoga Center :

The Isha Yoga Center is situated at the foothills of Velliangiri, which is on the outskirts of Coimbatore. It is the headquarters for Isha Foundation.

If you are a person who likes visiting spiritual places then this place is must visit. This place offers yoga, meditation and self-transformational programs.

Besides that the huge Dhyanlinga, beautiful gardens, pool for Shiv ling arpan and peaceful mediation centres will make you feel rejuvenate.

4. Grape Vineyards:

If you think red grapes are extremely expensive in India, then you absolutely wrong. On the way to Isha Center you can visit the vineyards. Coimbatore vineyards famous for red grapes. You can buy 1kg of red grapes for 20 rupees, which is way cheaper than the superstore price, which costs around 250rs.

The vineyards are stretched for upto 15 kilometres.

5. Local market:

Coimbatore is famous for textile. You can buy branded t shirts in a way cheaper rate in the local markets of Coimbatore.

There are also many famous ancient temples and trekking places. But the above 5 are my personal favorites.
