Nilgiris hill is the part of Western ghats and is Range of Mountains spread across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

The most popular places in Niligiris is ooty, situated in tamil Nadu it’s a quick ride from Mysore and 240kms from Bangalore , Ooty is a beautiful place and one of the those hill stations in the nilgiris

We left early morning to ooty , and passed through Bandipur and Madhumalai forest and encountered few wild animals like Langurs, Deers and a elephant , if you are luck you can spot a tiger too, but how i wish we were that lucky.

Ooty is completely covered by tea plantations and roads of ooty is a scenic as well, would recommend coming in bike actually than a Car .

We stayed in a beautiful resort , Oxygen Resort chanced upon a small information about a Tribal community , Toda Tribes, which are the most prominent hill tribes of Nilgiris.

Oxygen resort is a beautiful place to stay and there hospitality was the best.

Before the westernization, Todas are basically a pastoral tribe , who are Vegetarians which is surprising as most of the tribes i have read about are into hunting and pastoral, Hence they are totally in Agriculture and Cattle Farming.

So we planned to visit their village which is near to city , then we also planned to visit its temple, But what we actually saw was small uphill with two old huts covered completely.

The tribal community builds their houses and temples in Half of Oval shape , Like the one below and called as Munds.

Once we reached the place we could find two temples , we were advised to remove the shoes before we climbed the small hill , But unfortunately we did not have anyone to give us few information on the temples.

Toda tribal community has been gradually reduced to few numbers as most of them have moved out of their homes in pursuing their dreams.

Found a beautiful place to rest

After completing the visit to Village , we rested a bit in the resort and in the chilled weather we got a complimentary camp fire with music , who would not say no to this.

Day 2

We started our day bit late , as we had planned to check out and visit few places on the way so that we can reach back Bangalore before night.

Pine forest and Lake is quiet a scenic place , though its bit touristy but one can relax and watch the lake for hours together peacefully.

Once we completed , we moved on to our next place that was pykara falls, though its a famous spot, it was a complete disaster as the water had not filled the river, hence it was a big dud.

Once we completed , Pykara falls we continued our journey to Mysore ,to watch the lighting of the palace before we end our journey in Bangalore.
