Here I Am...

Well finally the wait is over and the holy month is here. Is it a coincidence, or did the Gods decide? Long story short, I'm in Bangalore and it is Ramadan. If you know something about Bangalore and this month, you would perhaps know where I'm going with this, Food, Food and more food!!!

With a lot of Ramadan street food stalls opening up and half a million options, it was quite a struggle to find out the best place in town for a food marathon. Well with the internet to the aid and the locals around, it didn't take much for me find out FRASER TOWN. If you are from Bangalore, you should probably know what I'm talking about. Fraser Town, is a suburb of Bangalore Cantonment, in Bangalore North-East, spread over 4 km. It would take about 45 mins - 1 hour drive for one to reach here from the modern Bangalore. Known for the juicy non-veg food and the Ramadan delicacies, this is a place you don't wanna miss out on a Ramadan month.

So I took a one hour ride with my colleagues to reach this heaven of a place for foodies.Expect quite a packed crowd during the season. The market will be a bit clumsy and crowded, however, it's worth a visit. One place you don't wanna miss out on is "Charminar Kabab Paradise". How to find the restaurant? Look for the most crowded place in the market with people swarming in. A bit expensive and crowded, but the things you do for food...

Considering the traffic, the crowd and the size of the market, one would be require to spend at least 3 hours to go around and feel the vibe whilst enjoying the food and culture of Bangalore and Ramadan. Going around in a vehicle is not advisable due to the crowd and the congested roads. It is highly advisable to walk from stall to stall and feel the vibes. The market operates from mid evening through early morning. And please don't consider this as a place for pure non- vegetarians, Fraser town offers something for everyone...

I would recommend to go with an open mind, ready to experiment some new food and dishes. For some, they may find it a bit odd to see the certain dishes being served, well, it is more about the beautiful culture, the splendid vibes and the experience you take away. So don't hesitate to get some Haleem, camel meat and "my personal favorite" wheel kebab along your journey. Couple of more 'must try' dishes are, Mutton Biriyani(of-course), Irani Chai and Sulaimani Chai. Go around, get your hands dirty...

Kind of sad to realize it would take and entire one full year to go back here and feel that vibe and taste those freshly cooked food. Nevertheless, for now it has been a heart full of love, belly full of food and a mind full of memories...

...Until next time...:)
