This was our first visit to Goa and what a trip it turned out to be. My brother and I wanted to have a short trip where we could unwind and have a gala time and Goa was the natural choice for it. We wanted to stay at a place near the sea and after a prolonged search over Trip Advisor, we finally selected The Santana Beach Resort, Candolim. This property was perfectly located by the sea and rightly priced for us. The rooms are nice and spacious and the service was perfect. The Calamari Beach Shack on the beach was a perfect place for having a meal with the soothing sound of the sea waves.
Getting around Goa is very easy as you can hire two wheelers for as little as INR 250 per day. Only thing is that you need to tank up for your commute. We went for dolphin sighting on the sea and it was an amazing experience. Besides that, the view from the old lighthouse at Fort Aguada is breathtaking. We also went to old Goa and visited a couple of churches, including the Basilica of Bom Jesus which holds the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. Besides that, we visited the Spice Plantations and had an amazing Goan lunch at the plantation site.
Few tips:
ü The food at the beach shacks are a tad expensive than the restaurants in road
ü Don’t forget to have the Goan fish curry. They make it really well. Besides that, the beer is real cheap and for those who don’t booze, there is always the fresh juice to lift your mood (Goa has got some really sweet watermelon juice)
ü South Goa is posh and expensive while North Goa is good for budget travelers
