Gokarna, is a small town centered around temples, pilgrims and natural beaches. The name Gokarna, meaning cow's ear in Sanskrit is based on Hindu mythology. The place is picturesque, and is not crowded. Its a peaceful place for a weekend trip. Daily buses are available from Bangalore. You can book a Train as well. OM Beach, Kudle Beach, Half moon Beach, Paradise Beach are the places to look out for. OM beach is so named, because the shape is like that of the Hindu religious symbol "OM". The place is best when visited between the months of October and December. There are cafes which serve decent Continental and Indian Food. Beer is widely available in the beach side cafes and one can walk through the Hills and explore the place. Stay in small resorts (available 365 days in a year) or shacks which are available during the non-rainy seasons. When its dark it feels great to hang out on the empty beach as there is no nuisance of cops. Also see the temples around the town and collect a souvenir to remember the trip. People are friendly in general. If one is in Bangalore and is looking for a refreshing weekend, it can't get better.

The Rooms are Cosy and the Sea View is Amazing
