Gold Rush Trail Adventure: 15 days Seattle <-> Anchorage $1900 + $600 Local Payment

This adventure starts in Seattle (or vice versa) and makes its way, 2,500 miles, to Anchorage following the Cariboo and Klondike gold rush trails. Travel overland and experience the rugged landscapes and animals that stood in the way of these frenzied prospectors. The Fraser River Valley and Cassiar Highway will give a glimpse back in time with visits to the K’san First Nation Village and Barkerville Historic Town. The Cassiar Highway also excites the animal lover with plenty of opportunities to see moose, beavers, fox, and black bear! After the Cassiar, which can be a rough road, we’ll soak our weary bones in the Takhini Hot Springs. The journey continues along the Yukon River up to Dawson City; a town perpetually set in the year of 1896. Try your luck gold panning or with a visit to Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Gambling Hall. Finally the adventure makes its way over “The Top of the World Highway” to the most northerly land border in the USA, Poker Creek and on to Anchorage.

We follow the Fraser River through the history of the Caribou Gold Rush era. Included are visits to the K’san Historical Village and Barkerville Historic Gold Rush Town. The K’san village is a great example of how the First Nation has continued to survive in harsh environments and keep their culture alive, while Barkerville sheds light on the prospectors and their hopes of striking it rich.

This small fishing village is our first taste of Alaska and has a large concentration of black and brown bears fishing along Salmon Glacier/Fish Creek. Many on the Canadian side of the border like to argue that this is part of their land, but either way, it a beautiful inlet surrounded by glaciers, mountains and rivers. Make sure you get your passport stamped here; they’ve got some of the coolest stamps!
