Mount Bromo would surely be in your bucket list even if you are not an avid traveler when it is of the 20 best places in the world to watch sunrise.  Located in Cemorolawang, 130 km from Subaraya, you can either book a taxi or take the public transport.  Buses from Subraya to Probolingo run for every 15 minutes.  From Probolinggo you can board the minivan that starts only when the van gets full which might take a long.  However you will end up spending less compared to the private taxi and the total journey takes about 4 hours.  The nearest accommodation in the proximity of Mount Bromo is Cafe Lava Hostel, which has basic accommodation with clear rooms and good service.  The ideal time to start your trekking is at 2.30 am in the morning if you are going to walk all the way to top of Mount Penanjakan to view the scenic sunrise over Mount Bromo.  It is better to do it yourself by foot  rather than opting for a guided tour or hiring a jeep which takes you until view point 1.  The overall trek to the viewpoint 2, which is top of Mount Penanjakan takes about 1 hour by steady walk.  Do not be surprised by the crowd even when you reach the view point even before dawn.  The view of Mount Bromo in the backdrop of sunrise will make you jaw drop with its scenic beauty.  Try to live the moment in connection with your inner peace but be prepared to be distracted by the shuttering noise of the cameras and chattering voices of people.  Wait until all the guided tourists leave the view point to get the whole place to yourself.  After enjoying the view Mount Bromo from Mount Penanjakan, its time to witness it from closer.  Backtracking down the hill, in order to get to the volcano, take the treacherous path down near the security guard post at Cemara Indah hotel.  People hardly take this path to reach the Sand of Sea and volcano which makes you most of the time the lonely adventurous traveler through the trial.  Do not miss to check the picturesque Hindu temple located in the middle of Sand of Sea.  The whole trip will end at around 9 am.  Check back into your hotel and catch the next bus to Surabaya with the achievement of Mount Bromo earned.
