Day 2

After completing a short sightseeing for Day 1, we started our day by walking towards the tungabhadra river for doing boating. But our luck didn't favour us. The motorboats were the only things that is available there. Before talking to that motorboat guy we spoke with some locals there. They told crossing the river in boat will cost around Rs : 20.

After that we went to the boat and asked the guy about the price. He simply said it will be around Rs : 50. We just clicked some photos from that banks of river and left the place. We have spoke with a foreigner near the bank. He told his experience about staying in India.

We stayed there for some time and we went for Hemakuta Hill Temple. It consists of a group of temples. It is a small hill located near to Virupaksha Temple. The place was full of monkeys. The climate was awesome as it was little drizzling. We visited every temple in the hill.

After some time we returned to the banks of tungabhadra river. We have been lucky to see a elephant bathing. We watched that for some time and i left for the room( to charge my camera battery). my friend kept roaming around nearby places which he told was not so interesting.

At 09:00 am we went to shop to have our breakfast. The one good thing about Hampi is that we use to get Bhajji's with every food we are ordering. The rate for the foods were also cheap. We had a nice breakfast and we went to our room.

While going back to room we enquired about the price of cycles for hours. Initially the owner said it would be around Rs : 100 but we said we need till 03:00 pm. So he said he can provide us two cycles for Rs : 75 each (Total Rs :150).

We got the cycle at 10:00 am and we left to our first destination of day - Queen's Bath. The place was too small with a small place for queen's to bath. We too some photograph and we left for another location.

We then went to Royal Enclosure. This is the place where the King used to meet the people during his days. There was huge Pushkarani (Lake having lotus flower) opposite to that Enclosure. There was an underground way near to the monument. It is a short way.

We went to the Hazara Rama Temple next. It was on the way to Lotus Mahal. The temple was dedicated to Lord Rama. Every temple in Hampi have sculptures craved on it. We spent around 20 mins there.

We have brought an entrance ticket to Lotus Mahal worth Rs: 30. It also contains a group of monuments inside it. First we visited Lotus Mahal and the went to Elephant Stable. The Elephant Stable consists tombs for 11 elephants to stand. We roamed around the place for an hour.

While returning back, we went to Shiva temple and Narasimha temple. The idol of lord Shiva was surrounded by water in the low region. The idol was bigger than than the other linga's.

The Narasimha statue was also huge in size. It is in half ruined state. The face of the lord is clearly visible. Around 01:45 pm we had our lunch and we returned the cycle back to the owner around 03:00 pm. Before returning we took a short ride through the Bazaar street of Hampi.

Then, my friend left to Chennai leaving me alone to explore the another location. He left around 04:30 pm. Then after that i choose climb the Matanga Hills. The Hill is little bit rugged. For getting a proper steps we have climb the mountain from Achyutaraya temple sideways. If you are using the front way , we may end up without having proper steps. As i used front way, i ended up losing the steps.

There is a saying that "We can find new things if we are ready to get lost". Like that saying i lost my steps but i found a new friend over the rock. As i ended up without having steps to move forward, i saw a couples and a man standing there without any idea. I spoke with him. He said he was form a journalist from France. Then both of us together did the rock climbing.

We have reached the top of the hill in 25 minutes. As we got close to the top , we saw an guard standing and instructing us to follow the steps behind the rock. As we are just few steps away from the top, we reached the top by doing rock climbing.

We sat there at one end of the hill for watching sunset. The sunset view was awesome and good. We sat there for 30 minutes and spoke to each other.

Around 06:45 pm , we are instructed to get down the hill as it is getting darker. So we reached down the hill and we went our ways. I had a nice dinner and went to my room.

The day was well spent with lots of memories.

The next day i have planned to visit another architecturally beautiful place BADAMI.

Will post the day in Badami soon...!!!
