I predominantly went for the Maha Kumbh Mela that happened in 2010...I did not carry my camera as I did not want to indulge in taking pictures...these pictures i posted were clicked in a friend that I made there on the trip...his basic camera...and i am perfectly alright with them...i began my journey by going to a Yoga Conference in Dev Sanskriti University. it was a week long conference, where i interacted with yoga practitioners from around the world and exchanged notes and ideas. During the time the Kumbh was on...i did go for the Maha Snaan (the mega dip in the Ganga at the time when it is new moon and there is a confluence of all the Constellations and other beings on that particular day...said to surge the human consciousness during the time ) along with millions of other seekers... so that was a pretty astonishing and overwhelming experience, to be just a speck of a being in all those millions of other devotees, seekers, onlookers, skeptics and agnostics and atheists(oh they are the most believers, they don't know that yet)...so yes it was pretty awesome exp and then i moved on to Rishikesh, the same thing was happening there as well, the first night i arrived there, there was no room to stay anywhere and it was already late in the night and i simply slept behind one of the thousand temples out there, and it was an amazing exp to have overcome my fear of being a single girl traveller, sleeping on the roadside in India...then the next morning, i bargained my way into a hotel after lots of coaxing and cajoling and re-assuring phone calls to home from the hotel manager, confirming that i hadn't run away from home, and i am genuine single female traveller, yes, i had to go through all these embarrassing explanations, in the middle of a cool million people...so much so for the security of the women...and then i moved on to Tapovan..trekked some...came down to rishikesh again and went for rafting....and some camping and some night long music and bon-fire experiences on the banks of Ganga...so yes it was a very liberating experience...and i will do it all over again!! yes in the middle of millions at that too!!!
