There are lots of interesting places to explore in Jaisalmer. You can ideally hire a cab and take a dig at the local sightseeing across the city. Check out the unusual tourist places like the Sun Gate that boasts of a carved idol of Lord Ganesha, the temple that is dedicated to Goddess Chamunda and Lord Shiva. There is also the Royal palace which is now being converted into a museum. There are also the Jaisalmer fort and the Patwon ki haveli which are a must visit along with the desert national park for exploring the wildlife of the desert.
When you are in Jaisalmer, you must also plan a day trip to Pokharan. There are several interesting places and attractions to explore in this small town that made it big in news a few decades ago. Check out the Fort Pokharan which is also known as the Balagarh. It is made with yellow sandstone and looks stunning. Also check out the Salim Singh ki Haveli which is almost 300 years old and is very close in proximity to Jaisalmer.
