A beautiful sunrise, birds chirping, Nature valley and a strange path with my travel bag… Off to a new destination!! HI!! I am Tej Malhotra and this is my new solo travelling experience. As I have said in my earlier posts to motivate every traveller to have one solo trip in life, this is a new story that I want to share about my recently completed solo trips to LANSDOWNE.
Lansdowne is a hill station, 260 Kms from DELHI towards Uttarakhand. My flight landed at Delhi International Airport at 5 o'clock in the morning and direct from the airport, I took a taxi to the bus-stop. It was the month of December, and the famous Delhi winters were at their peak. My bus was at 9 o'clock. Having tea in winters, specially when you are in Delhi, is a wonderful thing to do. While I was sipping my tea, a girl came and asked me where the ticket counter was. And to my surprize, she was travelling to the same destination where I was. She was Veera.
Interestingly, she was also a solo traveller, we became friends soon. After 5 hours’ journey, ahead of BIJNOR, the whole hilly area started. It was beautiful like God has seriously made this place for their holidaying spot. High bamboo trees, deep valleys and zig zag roads, everything felt perfect with the fresh air!! It felt so right to have chosen to come here.
Veera , told about how she lived in Pune and was working in an MNC. When she mentioned she too makes 2-3 solo trips in a year, we decided to explore a place or two together and go our ways hence forth.
Both of us booked the same home-stay near Tiffin top, a tourist spot in Lansdowne, which was a heaven for foodies. It was a small bungalow owned by an old guy, who was running it for travellers. Trust me! If you stay at this place you won’t miss your home anytime, it is so homely!!!
After reaching at about 5pm, we took some rest in our respective rooms. After a while I came out of my room to find the night sky full of stars, such a mesmerizing view!!! The cook of our care taker prepared mouth-watering dishes to be served hot for dinner at the bonfire. Waiting for Veera, I sat beside the fire as the temperature fell down to 1 degree. There, I met Akira and Virat. They both were business partners, travelling to some location when their car got punctured and they had to stay over. Talking to them was like talking to my college friends. We shared our professional as well as personal experiences. Virat revealed, there was a time when they used to be travellers too. Meanwhile, Veera also came and joined the conversation. Everything was so picturesque - New year’s eve, bonfire, hot food, cold air, countless stars in the sky, old songs and five of us, including uncle, having such a merry time together.
Next morning, after exploring two three places together Virat –Akira left for their destination. Eventually, I and Veera also departed on our solo paths.
I realized, though it was a solo trip, I never wanted it to be one!!!
Those people, they were like a childhood memory, when you think about them, you smile! They were those souls with whom you always wanted to live your life. That time was one of the best times of my life.
I wonder how travelling gave me three new friends, a wonderful new place and yeah a memory for life time!!
I shared my experience with my Fiancé MAYA. She respects my desire to travel and explore and motivates me to fulfil them. I feel so lucky to have her in my life.
Most importantly, I thank GOD who made this place for love and friendship. We met, we talked and we united for life!!!!!
FRIENDS FOREVER :)
