I landed up in Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) without a specific plan or agenda. A lot of people are afraid of travelling by road in Jammu and Kashmir because of safety concerns. But when a friend gave me the keys to his motorcycle, I had no choice but to go see for myself. I set off on a nearly 300 kilometre ride from Jammu to Srinagar.
About halfway into my journey I found myself in the line of fire of stone pelters somewhere near Qazigund in Kashmir. I escaped unhurt. But a close shave like this teaches you lot about a place, its people and the realities that they live with.
