Jaipur, “Pink City” of the colourful state Rajasthan is known for it’s magnificent haveli’s and historic forts, but it has also emerged as a popular shopping destination among the natives as well as foreigners. Famous for the traditional jewellery, clothing’s, footwear, unique handmade sculptures, markets of this city are visited and crawled by the shopping lovers from all over the world. In spite of having many malls the street markets and local markets in the city are flooded with customers throughout the year. Here are the main markets which you must visit when in Jaipur to get the best deals for the best products. Don’t forget to bargain as prizes in this markets are excessively hiked up specially for tourists.

1. Johari Bazar

Rajasthan is famous for its unique traditional jewellery and Johari Bazar is the one stop destination to shop for Gold, Silver, Kundan all kinds of jewellery at a single place. Apart from this you can also get some fabulous home furnishings items, clothing, handicrafts and home decoratives. The Bhandhej print Lehangas and Saari(s) are the speciality of this market. When in Johari bazar don’t forget to checkout LMB (Laxmi Mishthan Bhandar), the oldest and most popular sweet shop of Jaipur.

2. Tripolia Bazar

Situated between Manak Chowk and Choti Chaupar, Tripolia Bazar is the best place to buy lac jewellery (one of the trademarks of Rajasthan). You can also choose from the beautifully designed handmade carpets. This market is also visited for buying utensils and Brass-wares.

3. Bapu Bazar

Best For : Leather products ( specially Mojari), Fabric Items, Dress Material, Bedspreads

Timings : 10 :30 am – 8:30 pm

Bargaining : Must

This is the market for footwear shopping and specially the mojari. The traditional Rajasthani jooti or mojari or khussa is footwear made from soft camel leather. Some are simple and some are beautifully done with eye-catching embroidery. The market also has shops for home decor items, perfumes, sandstone, marble carvings and other handicraft items. Do checkout the leheria stoles, Jaipuri woollens and shawls.

4. Chandpol Bazar

Located just next to the Chandpol Metro Station this market houses the best wooden sculptures and creative handicrafts shops selling amazing souvenirs including carvings made out of marble and other kind of hand-looms.

5. Sireh Deori Bazar

Opposite to Hawa Mahal, Sireh Deori Bazaar is a street shopping destination. Get the best leather products and handicrafts. There are many shops selling Jaipuri Quilts, Colourful Textiles. Do visit this market even if you are not in a mood of shopping as you gonna find many lovely handicrafts including puppets !

6. Badi Chaupar

This is the epicentre of the main market of Jaipur. You can find almost any thing here. If not, then no problem as this place is centrally located between the most visited markets of Jaipur. Checkout the beautiful Bombay Dyeing bed-sheets and the Block printed clothes.

7. Chaura Rasta

This is the market mostly visited by students or those preparing for any competitive exams. There are shops selling variety of stationery items and fine hand printed paper.

8. Mirza Ismail Road (MI Road)
