Jaisalmer is one of the major tourist destinations of Rajasthan. The city was established in 1156 by Rawa Jaisal. It is named after its founder, with "Jaisal" representing the king's name and "Mer" signifying a fort. I had my solo trip plan in the city for two days. So I booked a hostel Named 'Explore Hostel Life' on Booking.com which was nearby to the Golden fort & cost me just 156 Rupees (139+17 rupees tax) for a whole 24 hours. I checked in earlier in the morning of 16th November.
After some rest I started exploring the city & first day I visited Jaisalmer fort (Sonar Qila), Gaddisar Lake, Patawo ki Haveli & The Mandir Palace. The Hostel manager suggested me to book an auto that would leave me on each attraction & from there I had to explore it by my own. It cost me 500 rupees but I recommed you that if you are a solo budget traveler then it's better to explore the main attractions of the city by walking yourself since the major attractions mentioned above are nearby to each other & by walking around 6-7 kmtrs you can cover most of them with the help of Google map.
1- Jaisalmer Fort- Jaisalmer fort also known as The Sonar Qila & The pride of the city is one of the major attractions In The city of Jaisalmer built by Rawal Jaisal, A Bhati Rajput in the year 1156. Like most of the forts of Rajasthan this too can be seen from far away distance since it is built on height. The Ticket price was 200 rupees & it's better to get a guide in order to know more about the fort. It takes around 1 to 1.5 hours to visit it completely. You can go to the top of the fort to get some breathtaking views of the golden city & spend some time there. The fort is among the UNESCO World Heritage sites So if you are in Jaisalmer, it is one of the places you can't afford to miss.
2- Gadisar Lake- Gadisar Lake is an artificial lake in Jaisalmer. It was built by the founder of Jaisalmer, King Rawal Jaisal in 1156 AD & later rebuilt by Gadsi Singh Bhati around 1367. The lake is located about 1 mile from Jaisalmer Fort. It is said that this lake once provided water to the entire city. Presently, the water comes in the Gadisar Lake from Indira Gandhi Canal, so it never dries. If you wish to spend some quality time in peace then it's the place for you. If you are in a group then you can try boating too. I spent an hour there & moved to my next destination.
3- Patawo Ki Haweli- Patawo ki Haveli is a heritage museum built by Guman Singh Patawa in the first half of the 19th century. It is nearby to the fort & easily reachable by walking around the streets. There you can shop & buy fancy Jewelleries Such as Bangles, Earrings, Sandles etc at moderate prices.
4- The Mandir Palace- The Mandir Palace was the forth & final destination of the city that I visited on my day one. It's a kind of a muesum again & hardly takes 20 minutes to visit since a big part of it was ristrcted for the tourists. The ticket price was rupees 160 so if you wish to visit them you can. So after eating some fast food from the nearby shop outside of the Mandir Palace I finished my day exploration & moved back to my hostel by evening at 5. Here I'm posting few of my pictures of Day One...

The Second Day (Nov 17) was even more exciting for me as I visited the Famous Longewala War memorial & The Tanot Mata Temple. My Hostel Manager managed a car which would carry me to the Thar Desert & brought back by night after visiting Tanot Rai temple, Longewala War memorial I did some activities such as Sam Jeep, Camel Safari, spent some time seeing the evening Cultural Programs of Rajsthan & bad the dinner too. So it was a complete day package of rupees 7500 for myself. Since I didn't have any partners, I took it myself. I would suggest everyone to come in groups to make your day more worth & memorable.
