Day 1

Kanyakumari, being the Southernmost tip of India was one of the most exciting trip of my life. Kanyakumari is surrounded by three water bodies. Bay of Bengal towards east, Indian Ocean in south and Arabian Sea in west. The place is famous for its lovely sunset and sunrise.
The trip started with the local bus ride from Trivandrum which will drop you at Nagercoil, which is around 20 km from Kanyakumari. I took the bus that was scheduled for 10:30 AM IST on 21st December 2019. It was a 3 hour ride. Then 45 minute ride from Nagercoil to Kanyakumari.Views of Kanyakumari mainland from the sea are extremely stunning.

Accommodation: Hotel Sea View
Luxuriating accommodation which served gratifying hospitality. The hotel is located near the popular destinations of Kanyakumari. We could witness the stunning vistas of the Indian Ocean from our balcony while staying at this beautiful resort.
I checked-in around 02:00 PM. There are 2 categories of rooms, sea view and city view. For the sunrise the hotel will allow you to go to the terrace, early at 05:30 AM. Tariff of the hotel depends on the time you are visiting, if peak season it will be high for sure. As I visited during the peak season, the city view costed me around 2200Rs.  I would recommend to do the booking in advance as the hotel is mostly full.
After taking some rest, I started exploring the place.
One tip before you start, apply sunscreen lotion and wear the footwear that is easy to remove.

Must visit places of Kanyakumari:

-> Triveni Sangam:
As the name suggests, it is the point where the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal meets. The view was mesmerizing. You could clearly see the difference of the color of the water. The breeze is too strong that one feels one will fly away with that. Its a nice beach with a nice view of Vivekananda rock memorial. Lots of small shops just a few meters from the beach. You can shop for sea shells, souvenirs, spices. Best time to go here would be in the evening around 05:00 PM.

-> Sunset Point:
This is around 2.5km away from the market area. One can take a shared/private auto from the main market to reach the sunset point. Per auto they will charge you around 100rs.Time of sunset will be around 05:45PM but I would recommend you to reach before, by 05:30pm. There is an entry fee of 20rs.The entire beach area at this place shows the great view of sunset and one can have good photo and video shoot to capture this lovely moment. This place is for all the nature lovers who enjoy the colors of sky when sun is setting.

-> Sunrise of Kanyakumari:
This is one of the best experience in Kanyakumari. I would recommend taking the hotel next to the beach as these hotels will give you the view from the terrace itself, instead of going out. The ideal time of sunrise depends on the time of the year you are going. Ideally when I went it was 05:45 AM. Seeing the beautiful sun coming out of big ocean is breath taking. It was all orange before sun started coming and then a small ball which slowly was a full orange ball.

-> Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar Statue:
This is one of the most famous spot in Kanyakumari to visit via a boat. You cannot go direct. There is a big boat that caries 40-50 people at one go. The ordinary price for the round trip is 50rs and the VIP one is 200rs. Make sure you reach here on time else you might have to stand in a big queue.
Timing for the jetty ride is from 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM. This overall takes around 2 hours of yours. The thrilling ferry journey midst the mesmerizing ambiance, made me fall in love with it. The spectacular architecture of memorial was constructed to honor Swami Vivekananda. There are two main structures here, the Vivekananda Mandap.

-> Kanyakumari pier:
This is a prolonged structure of land into the sea which extends about half of km from the mainland. Walking at the pier become quite adventurous. Views of Kanyakumari mainland from the sea is extremely stunning. One to do activity when you go to the tip of the Pier is to take the screenshot of the location you are at. Why to do this is something you will realize when you see that. Trust me, this is something crazy!

Other point of interests-
Mahatma Gandhi Mandapam  (Where the remains of Father of Nation were kept), Lord Shiva temple, Kanyakumari Mata temple, Lady Ransom Church.

Recommended Veg Restaurant for Veg:
Saravana Bhawan at the main market area of Kanyakumari.

Lastly, after encountering the delightful memories that I have listed above I boarded my bus from Kanyakumari to Bangalore.

Last tip:
The private travel agencies are next to the Hotel Sea View. From there they will be arranging the pick up points for you which will take you to the main bus.

Another reason that I had to say that my stay was super :)
