After a crazy day at Phuket we were back to a port but this time it was different, at another end they said and we were now expecting a boat to carry us to a list of places.
The boat was then filled with 30 people way more than the last day and we were on our way to someplace we all didn't know.
In the middle of the sea, the boat stopped and the guide asked us to get ourselves settled in the kayaks he had loaded in and before i knew we were kayaking in the pair of 2 in the middle of the sea with a guide on each kayak.
They guided us into a cave which was dark and was smelling like shit, he switched on his flashlight and threw it on the ceiling and i almost jumped out of the kayak as i saw those bright eyes glowing.
"These are bats which are at least a feet long," our guide said. A foot-long? I couldn't believe it till i saw one hanging and trust me the sight was scary.
Soon we were loaded back in and were off to new place and they said that this place is interesting Khao Karos water caving.
In the open sea, the sun was bright and there were rocks beside where our boat was standing, we soon got in our kayaks and moved into the rocks, the view was amazing, it seemed like we were on an adventure searching for treasure or something, the beauty cannot be justified in words, the rocks were beautifully carved by the water, and the plants were blooming everywhere.
We soon entered into a cave to leave on another side which seemed like an enclosed place, enclosed by the mountains with limited light, we saw up to see huge heart mountains were forming an opening to the blue sky where the sun was shining. We were left awestruck looking at that beautiful carving.
Due to limited kayaks, we couldn't spend more time in there as others were waiting ☹.
We came back and asking for permission from the guide we jumped into the water for a bath.
The pleasant weather soon turned scary, dark clouds started seeping in and the winds were increasing. All swimmers including me, were settled on a small island near the boat when the guide shouted and asked us to come back but the waves were going crazy, soon we realized that the small island we were standing on was disappearing. My heart started pounding heavily, the sea level was increasing, we were expecting rains that day but this wasn't something easy. Only 5 of us were left on that island which was no more visible from there.
Luckily one of the guides came in an inflammatory boat and all 5 were loaded on. As we reached the boat everyone was angry and were shouting, the guide said last week someone died the same way, but in my head, i thought "fuck it, i had fun and it was adventurous" and laughed within myself :p
We soon were served with lunch on the boat which again sucked so we resorted to fruits.
We soon reached to this amazing looking spot named - James bond island, it was named such because it was chosen as one of the locations for the 1974 James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun as the hideout for Bond's antagonist, Francisco Scaramanga.
The place was beautiful but before we reached there it started raining heavily and so most of our time went searching for hideouts or bathing in rain.
The day already seemed long though the clock barely had ticked 4.
We got back to our boat and were now on our way back to the port when suddenly we heard a whistle and it leads to an eruption of excitement among the passengers as we saw a few eagles following the boat.
The guide was carrying some raw meat and was whistling to call eagles to eat it. Not sure where these magnificent birds were hiding but just in few minutes there was a huge flock of at least 20 of the following. The sight was beautiful. The birds were bigger than we could ever imagine flapped slowly and were flying beautifully. We could see an eagle who was flying adjacent to our ship properly with his yellow beak, white head, and a brown body.
I couldn’t even recollect what all were we already done with!!
Kayaking in the middle of the sea? I never thought of it to add it to my bucket list but I already had struck it off without even adding it.
Facing the deadly weather stuck on a small island that was disappearing? The thought of that day still gives goosebumps to me but can there be any less adventure than this??
Visiting an island that was used by Christopher Lee as his hideout for a movie? Okay, now I am going crazy with the memories.
And never the less seeing a flock of magnificent birds following our ship. Thailand indeed turned out to be my dream trip!!
