32 people , from different parts of India , came together with just one mission in their mind - to reach the summit of Kedarkantha (A Peak in the Garhwal Range of Himalayas). The journey from Sankri, Uttarakhand to the summit was mesmerizing. The strenuous trail passing through the woods with tall pine trees, the frozen Juda-Ka-Talab and extreme low temperatures at Kedarkantha Base Camp result in the hypnotizing beauty of the Himalayas at the summit.

The way to sankri runs along the clear blue waters of tons and the yamuna river . One gets a glimpse of Himalays on reaching close to Sankri. The number of trekkers heading to Himalayas have given a lot of employment opportunities to the local residents . On the other hand, the environmental balance is getting disturbed. The trail from Sankri to Juda Ka Talab passes through the woods with tall, old and beautiful pine trees and takes around 4 hours. Snow is all around and you are surrounded with massive peaks. The Landscape is breathtaking.

The Juda Ka Talab is a very scenic camp site located in the capacity of a National Park. The Lake freezes in winters and the temperature can get as low as -15 degree celsius. The camp site is pretty big and provides space for group activites. It can get windy at times. And beware of the foxes at night . If you are lucky and the sky is clear, there is a very good chance that you will see lot of brights stars and milky ways. Juda Ka Talab with its scenic location is a very good place to get some star trails.

If you want to sleep like a baby in the lap of Himalayas , there is no place better than this. Serenity and calmness define this place and you can get into inner soul searching . The temperature can get as low as -20 degree celsius at night.

The Trail to Kedarkantha is pretty strenuous and is steep at places. You are in the middle of white desert. Gators are must if you are trekking in the snow for the first time. The scenery on the way to the summit is mesmerizing and you can never get enough it. A 360 degree view of the Himalayan Garhwal Range , winds blowing at 70 kmph and the Shiva Trishul define this place. You are literally on top of the world and cities like shimla and delhi look like small dots. That said, you need to be here for the experience.

While coming down from the Summit to the Hargaon Base Camp, the steepness of the trail works in your favour and one can easily run or slide down the snow. The Sunrise and sunset at the base camp are beautiful. The peaks are lit like candles and the aura is magnetizing.

I have Been to Kedarkantha and the Trip was amazing. I booked the package with euttaranchal.com/tourism/kedarkantha . It is by far one of the most scenic treks i have ever done in Uttarakhand. The trip was well organized and everything was well planned. I must say that this is one of the best treks you want to do and will love it. The sheer beauty of Himalayas can be seen through this trek. P.S The Photos are amazing !

I don't mean to sound critical but everything you have written in your article I can get from other sites. As a person who has been on this trek you should have provided more details relevant to the reader and some personal tips and suggestions for potential trekkers to Kedarkantha.

Hi Ashish, who organizes this Kedarkantha trekking camp? Any information you can give will be much appreciated. I will be in Dehradun two weeks from now and would like to go on this trek if I can.

Each campsite on the way up to Kedarkantha is so beautiful. Camping out at night under the stars with a bonfire to keep you warm is the best experience ever. It is ten times better than lazing about in some beach resort.

If you say that you were 32 people on this trek to Kedarkantha then I'm guessing this is something organized by some tour company or group? How much would a trek like this cost- transport, food, lodging and everything included?
