We are already in 2022 and it has been so long since my last post here. I have been to Couple of more places and most of those have been Solo rides. Let me just start with the last one as it is fresh in my mind and I will try to keep it as short and crisp as possible Because I have been filled with so much memories in the past Couple of years that I can not wait to let it out.
Located in the Rudraprayag district, Kedarnath is situated near the Chorabari Glacier – the source of the Mandakini river, Kedarnath is flanked by snow-capped peaks and it will give a different vibe to the whole landcsape. And trust me when I say that you gotta have a look at those peaks both in the morning as well as evening. Those images will be permanently stored in your heart.
Best Time -I went there at the end of September month. Most people go there during May, June, September, October as most of the tourists come during this period. However, the weather is a bit unstable post monsoon and there are lot of landslides on the Rishikesh - Srinagar(Not the one in Jammu) road. So If You like a bright clear weather with more well defined glaciers, You should definitely go in April, May.
How to Reach ?- well, I will explain you in a most simplest way so that you won't have any hassle reaching there.
Firstly, You just need to reach Rishikesh from your Current location. By Air, You can reach Dehradun Airport. By Rail, You can reach the nearest railway station at Rishikesh and of Course there are buses available from Delhi ISBT to Rishikesh.
Now from Rishikesh, this is the ordered sequence to reach the starting point of trek( Gaurikund ).
Rishikesh -Devprayag-Srinagar(bust stand)-Guptkashi- Sonprayag- Gaurikund
You will get buses to Sonprayag from Rishikesh as well as Srinagar if you want to stay there. If You are going by Personal vehicle them you will park your vehicle at Sonprayag and there are dedicated taxi service available for last 5 Km till Gaurikund at a very reasonable rate. It was around 30Rs per person if I remember.
Trek Details- It is a 16 km trek and the way is well maintained. I would recommend you starting as early as possible so that you reach there by time and you can enjoy the evening Arti after getting fresh. And for staying , there are lot of tents and rooms available but the closer you get to the shrine, the more costlier it gets. If you are looking for a better option to stay then you can check GMVN site as they provide better facilities at reasonable rates.
I guess, it was all about this beautiful trek. Also, there are also options for helicopter rides from Sonprayag if you want But I don't think you want to miss the trek itself. Happy adventure!
