Kerala - God's own country!

I had always been skeptical about visiting Kerala, thinking that like several other tourist destinations, this one might also be hyped. Fortunately, when we ran out of feasible options, we happened to shortlist this amazing place for holidaying on our first anniversary. And Kerala has surprised me way beyond my expectations...

We started with Munnar where we floated amidst the clouds and strolled through the stunningly beautiful tea and flower gardens, to be eventually teleported to a different era of days gone by upon seeing the mesmerizing performances of Kalaripayattu and Kathakali. The fragrant air of Munnar filled the atmosphere with romance, and we simply couldn't resist striking a few cheesy poses!

If Munnar stunned us with its flora, Thekkady amazed us with its fauna. We chose the boat ride through the Periyar river, and were fortunate to spot an elephant crossing over! Bisons, Wild boar, lungurs and deers were also spotted scattered across the banks of this silent, calm river, in addition to a hundred different species of birds (whose names I fail to recall). But the icing on the cake was to bump into a group of Samba Deers at a distance of just a few feet while cycling through a jungle trail!

Alleppey was a different story where nature bestows its blessings on us petty humans in an awe-stunning-ly beautiful manner. The serene backwaters with striking green splattered on their edges are sure to leave you a a loss of words to describe their beauty. Not to mention, the beautifully crafted houseboats rowing along add to this picture perfect scene.

To put it all in one line, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect, more special place to spend our special day!
