Day 1

Arrived at Trivandrum airport from Delhi.

Checked into Sagara beach resort at kovalam beach which is approx 15 kms from the city.

Located 16 km away from the state capital Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Kovalam is awesomely beautiful and a haven of serenity. It's a pleasant tourist spot in 'God's Own Country'. It's a magnificent beach supported by sharply mounting headlands and enclosed by fertile coconut palms. Placed snugly in the southern part of Kerala, Kovalam has created its presence fingered on the worldwide tourist map, due to its clean and bizarre beaches lined with glittering sand and tall light houses. The privy coves, sun kissed beaches, and the coastal towns of Kovalam enliven with its freshening up nature and the pristine atmosphere. It's divided into two main beaches namely the Eve's beach and the Lighthouse beach. It offers the best facilities to its beach lovers like swimming

There are both costly resorts and budget properties .The best part is budget properties are more closely located near the beach
You can enjoy fish and seas food while facing the Arabian sea.

Day 2

Travelled from Trivandrum to Alapuzha to see backwaters of Kerala.
The Kerala backwaters are a chain of brackishlagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast (known as the Malabar Coast) of Kerala state in southern India. The network includes five large lakes linked by canals, both man made and natural, fed by 38 rivers, and extending virtually half the length of Kerala state. The backwaters were formed by the action of waves and shore currents creating low barrier islands across the mouths of the many rivers flowing down from the Western Ghats range.

The backwaters have a unique ecosystem: freshwater from the rivers meets the seawater from the Arabian Sea. A barrage has been built near Thanneermukkom, so salt water from the sea is prevented from entering the deep inside, keeping the fresh water intact. Such fresh water is extensively used for irrigation purposes.
Boat races are occasions ( August) of great excitement and entertainment with thousands gathered on the banks to watch and cheer. Most of these races are held in the Kuttanad Region.
