The closest central place, to cover the spots, in Kolhapur one can visit Mahalakshmi Mandir, Binkhambi Ganesh Mandir, Shahu Place, Rankala Lake. Also you can visit famous Jyotiba temple which is hardly 26 Km from the place all places can be covered in 2 days span
Visit to Panhala fort, 24 Km from Kolhapur where one comes across the history of an escape by Shivaji Maharaj from Panhala Fort to Vishal Gad with the aide Daring Baji Prabhu Deshpande and Mavalas (Soldiers). If one wishes to stay on Panhala fort their is a MTDC resort for which bookings can be done through on line portal.
It is the route which was utilised by Shivaji to travel from Panhala to Vishal Gad; Distance Panhala to Pawan Khind (44 Km.)
The fort true to its name Vishal (Huge) has only a single access route and is surrounded on all the three sides by deep valleys, on one of the tip of Fort one can come across monuments of Baji Prabhu and Fulaji Prabhu. Pawan Khind to Vishal Gad 16 Km
