1. Routes:

Route 1: Srinagar to Leh (434 Km)

Best time for road trip: Mid May to Oct

Route 2: Manali to Leh (476 Km)

Best time for road trip: Mid June to Mid Sept

2. Places to see on Srinagar Leh Highway: Sonmarg, Drass Valley, Kargil War Memorial, Pattharsahib Gurudwara, Alchi Monastery, Magnetic hill, Spituk Monastery, Moonland Lamayuru Monastery.

3. Places to see on Manali Leh Highway: Rohtang La, Keylong, Jispa, Darcha, Baralacha La, Sarchu, More Plains, Nakee La, Lachulung La.

4. Permit:

No permit for Indian Citizen

Foreign nationals requires permit to visit inner line areas like Pangong, Khardung La.

Out of state vehicle required to issue permit from SDM office in Manali for travelling on Manali Leh Highway.

5. Places to stay at Manali Leh Highway: Tandi, Keylong, Jispa, Sarchu

6. Places to stay at Srinagar Leh Highway: Sonmarg, Drass, Kargil, Sham Valley.

7. Acute Motion Sickness:

Symptoms: Headache, Lethargy, Dizziness and Loss of appetite.

8. Tips to Avoid AMS:

Ascend gradually from low altitude.

Carry small oxygen cylinder.

Keep sipping water at regular interval.

Take Diamox (by consulting doctor)

Eat food at regular intervals
