Lakshman Jhula- The Suspension Bridge #Triportocommunity #travelwithtripoto

Tripoto

Lakshman jhula is a suspension bridge located around 5km from the city of Rishikesh. The bridge gives all the chills as it is suspended so while moving it shakes immensely which is a thrilling experience in itself.

The bridge connects two villages tehri and jonk on the east and west direction.

Across the bridge there are places to eat and are filled with many hindu temples. It is also one of the holiest places of hindu.

Built in 1939 this suspension bridge measures 450 feet (137 meters) in length and stands 70 feet (21 meters) above the river.

The name comes from Lakshmana, the younger brother of Lord Sri Rama who crossed here when the bridge was made from jute thread.

You can now cross the bridge confident in its steel construction. Peer over the railings and down over the Ganges. Steep cliffs and dense forest line the banks offering no escape for the adventurous white-water rafters you can watch paddling through this section of the valley.

Day 1

Me and my family started early morning from Musoorie and reached rishiskesh in couple of hours. The way was quite smooth and it was fun reaching the ganges.

We kept on gazing at the beautiful ganges river and then decided to reach Lakshman jhula.

Standing on the bank of this ancient river, I imagined beautiful things. The vision of a blue sky with whiffs of gentle clouds filled up my mind, the majestic mountains standing quietly, cold breeze rustling the leaves, the faint sound of the waves crashing on the shore and an echo of a sacred hymn floated across the river bed.

We were on a suspension bridge with a lot of crowd but it felt so amazing at that moment.

The peace and the tranquility of this holy land struck a chord deep inside. A sense of timelessness and the eternal presence gradually engulfed you in a bliss.

We then went on the other side of the bridge and had some paranthas and curd which was quite good. We also went to the temples on the stretch and then came back.

Lakshman jhula is an experience which is amazing

The entire family on the bridge.
