Over the years we have been planning trips in August over the long weekend, this is like a yearly ritual for us. This year due to leave constraint and heavy monsoon in Maharashtra we did not take a long trip and decided to take a leisure trip. My bucket list includes few luxury resorts around Mumbai and Pune and so this August, we decided to tick of one of the resorts. So, we booked the stay at the earliest to avoid surge owing to long weekend.
A day prior to the trip, I got a call from the resort confirming our stay and check in time and to my surprise we were given an upgrade to the Club Villa, the lady was describing the villa, the details and I was in dream land visualizing the stay and ofcourse who doesnt love a free upgrade. And I was speed dialling all my friends letting them know of my windfall.
Once while scrolling through my Facebook page, had come across a video of the same club villa, and it was gorgeous and mesmerizing. That's when I had decided to visit the resort and the dream of staying at the same villa came true and thus the excitement level was through the roof
The Next day we started our Journey, it’s a 3.5-hour drive from Mumbai and Pune around 105 kms. Caution Alert!! Be prepared for a bumpy ride as the roads are in Pathetic Condition, aside from that it’s a delightful drive surrounded by greenery and picturesque path.
Food Alert!! Do halt at “Shree Datta Snack Corner” to savor the most famous “Mumbai Vada Pav” and “Kothimbir vadi”, halting here for snacks is must for two reason, one - the tasty food and second - you would not get any decent eatery till you reach your destination.
We reached close to our destination, we could see sign boards for directions and here we are, the “U-Tropicana” board welcoming us, we enter the property, it’s a huge property properly organized and surrounded by greenery and perfect for a weekend and a romantic getaway
On entering the premises, we were greeted by the smiling staff. Our arrival time was around 2pm and had booked an all-inclusive meal plan. We went straight to the “EAT”restaurant to have our lunch, the buffet spread was excellent with various counters and caters to the people of all meal preferences. Now is the time to checkin in the room, the hotel staff took us to our Villa, we were allocated “Villa 6”, the villa has 4 rooms – 2 on the ground floor and 2 at the first floor, guests staying on the first floor have direct access to rooms from outside and for guests staying on the ground floor have access to the private pool. As we entered the villa we were awestruck, the first thing we did was villa tour, and everything was so perfect. The first thing on our mind was the private pool, we freshened up and went straight to the pool for a dip.
Post Dip at the pool, you can spend your evening at the Captain Cook Bar for some drinks and light snacks, the location of the Bar is perfect with all sides opening to nature and pool. The property also offers SPA services. The Dinner buffet is served at the “EAT” restaurant on the 2nd floor of the common property, it is a treat to all the non-vegetarians. Post dinner you can take a tour of the entire property, they also have game room and park for kids.
Post the delightful meal, we had a good night sleep and next day we went straight to relish the breakfast, again a sizeable buffet of Indian and continental dishes. The Best part about the resort is the 24-hour check in facility, as we had an option to check out at 2 pm. We had ample of time to spend at the restaurant, unlike the rush to checkout immediately after breakfast. We had a good time at the restaurant, chit chatting over multiple cup of tea and coffee and ofcourse those tasty cookies. The Staff is very courteous, and the service was excellent, as it was a long weekend the property had high occupancy rate and still the same was so well managed with all smiling faces.
This is a place for luxurious staycation, and if you wish to plan a surprise or celebrate your special day this place is for you. We came back home relaxed, with smiles on our face and all charged up for the next week.
Sightseeing : In case you have time and wish to visit a beach, Kihim beach is 3 kms away from the property, believe me - we did not wish to go to the beach as we were quite happy and satisfied at the resort and also the beaches nowadays are too crowded and not worth visiting.
